New Exec. Director.--Melanie Johnson
Following the recent resignation of former Executive Director Clifton Davis, Mayor Michael Nutter has recently appointed Melanie Johnson as the new Executive Director for Welcome America inc. and the 2008 Sunoco Welcome America festival.

Clifton Davis Resigns
On behalf of Welcome America inc., we would like to thank Clifton Davis for his hard work and dedication over the last 2 years.
"I want to take this opportunity to thank Clifton for his hard work and dedication to Welcome America,” said Mayor Nutter. “I wish him the best of success in his future pursuits.”
Mr. Davis was appointed in 2006 to lead Welcome America, Inc., which produces the Independence Day celebrations featuring concerts, fireworks, parades, neighborhood events and educational programs.
“I have truly enjoyed working with my staff and the many leaders of key organizations in the hospitality industry of Philadelphia, and I value the relationships we have built over the years,” Mr. Davis said in a letter to Mayor Nutter. “I feel extremely proud of the two Sunoco Welcome America! Festivals we have had the pleasure of helping to produce.”

Online Brochure 2007
Welcome America Inc. blankets the city with our highly anticipated brochures during the summer. Our brochures highlight sponsors, the Sunoco Welcome America! festival headliners and performers (including the July 4th headliner), all Sunoco Welcome America! festival events throughout the city of Philadelphia, along with a myriad of events going on in Philadelphia and New Jersey during the summer.
